Michiana Practitioners Network
Improving access and education on alternative health for under-served populations in our area

Improving Access to Alternative Care
- building a non-profit that fundraises to cover fees for alternative health practitioners- working to build relationships with local clinics/hospitals to make referrals from under-served populations
- educating local clinics/hospitals and clients about the benefits of alternative health options (ie doula, massage, reiki, yoga, herbology, etc).Encouraging “Healthy” Gift-giving and Care- a source where people in the community can find information on participating practitioners and their services.- a centralized way for people to buy gift certificates or create a gift registry for doula and massage services, etc.- education/outreach/marketing to promote the idea of giving these services as gifts and using them on gift registries.
Please contact Nicole Bauman if you are interested in pursuing these conversations, or if you are a practitioner with interest in joining the Network at 574 536 0225 or nicoleocbauman@gmail.com
"The Michiana Practitioners Network was birthed out of Karissa Loewen's vision of building her doula and massage business while also providing more accessible, affordable care and education about alternative health and wellness to otherwise marginalized and under-served populations. Karissa began sharing her dreams with friend and fellow doula Nicole Bauman, and they decided to begin inviting others to brainstorm ways in which they might collectively move the project forward. These two women are hoping to gather with area practitioners over the next several months to continue to define their vision and to begin to lay out next steps. All are welcome to join this movement; please see the attached documents for more details, or be in touch if you are interested in participating!"
